On this Family Holiday, view works of Spain's greatest artists on a visit to Madrid's Prado Museum. Travel south into La Mancha, land of Don Quixote, and proceed to Toledo, renowned as Spain's cultural melting pot. Learn the art of flamenco at a private lesson and see the dancing stallions at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Seville.

ITINERARY

Visit the Prado Museum, renowned for its collection of Spanish art treasures, including works by Spain's three great masters: Goya, Vel?zquez and El Greco. Continue to the Royal Palace, where rooms are filled with art, antiques and a fascinating display of weaponry. The afternoon is at leisure. InterContinental Madrid B

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Madrid, Spain
Travel south into La Mancha, land of Don Quixote, stopping at the picturesque village of Consuegra with a hilltop crowned with windmills. Visit the impressive fortified castle, once a stronghold of the region. Proceed to historic Toledo, famous as a cultural melting pot where, for centuries, Christians, Jews and Muslims lived side by side. Visit the cathedral and El Greco's masterpiece Burial of the Count of Orgaz. Tonight's dinner is at Bot?n, perhaps the oldest restaurant in Europe. InterContinental Madrid B L D

Day 3: Madrid
Board the high-speed AVE train to C?rdoba, one of Spain's oldest cities. Visit the sublime Mezquita (mosque), which was built between the 8th and 10th centuries and considered to be one of the most extraordinary buildings in all of Europe. It was converted to a Christian cathedral in the 13th century, and the building today blends both Moorish and Baroque elements. Stroll through the flower-filled streets of the Jewish Quarter; then lunch independently. Continue through the spectacular countryside to Granada, where you dine ? la carte at your hotel. Day 4: Madrid/Toledo/Madrid
Visit the magical Alhambra Palace, a 13th-century palace-citadel of royal residential quarters, court complexes, a bath and a mosque. Continue to the beautiful gardens of the Generalife Palace, once the summer palace of the Nasrid sultans of Granada. This afternoon is at leisure for more exploration or to just relax. Dinner is in a gypsy cave and entertainment is a traditional flamenco performance. AC Palacio de Santa Paula B D

Day 5: Madrid/C?rdoba/Granada
Seville is the regional capital of Andalusia and one of Spain's most romantic cities. Bearing traces of 500 years of Moorish occupation, it was home to the legendary Don Juan and Carmen, and is the final resting place of Christopher Columbus and St. Ferdinand. Wander the picturesque, narrow streets of the Santa Cruz Quarter and visit the magnificent cathedral and the 14th-century Alcazar, built by the Moors for a Christian king. Enter the high, fortified walls of the Puerta del Le?n (Lion's Gate) and find yourself in a garden courtyard next to the intimate Patio del Le?n (Courtyard of the Lion), the only remains of the 12th-century Almohad Alc?zar. Cross more garden courtyards to the beautiful Patio de las Doncellas (Court of the Damsels), with its delicately carved stuccos, and to the multi-colored cedar cupola of the Sal?n de Embajadores (Hall of the Ambassadors). Day 6: Granada
In Jerez de la Frontera, see a performance by the famous "dancing stallions" at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. The school is devoted to conserving the ancestral abilities of the Andalusian horse and preparing horses and riders for international dressage competitions. It also provides education in all areas of horsemanship, breeding and equestrian care. Have lunch in town before returning to Seville for a farewell dinner at your hotel. Hotel Alfonso XIII B L D

Day 7: Granada/Seville
Drive to Cortijo El Esparragal for a farm safari where you see herds of bulls and horses; lunch follows in the magnificent manor house. DESIGN YOUR DAYSM options fill the afternoon.
