ITINERARY

Jambo na Karibu! After a warm welcome, you’ll be driven to your boutique lodge located on the edge of Nairobi National Park.

Enjoy a morning Nairobi National Park Safari before the crowds arrive. Learn about the ways your stay benefits the black rhino and local schools and perhaps visit a community before touring the capital city of Nairobi.

Your safari takes off with a flight to the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy in the Samburu region of Kenya. Meet your expert ranger for a game drive and start exploring the conservancy’s dramatic landscape. You’ll be thrilled by the diverse wildlife you can encounter here. Keep an eye out for leopards, wild dogs, and reticulated giraffes.

Namunyak is home to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. Join an elephant keeper for a behind the scenes tour of the sanctuary. Observe the elephants as they enjoy their bottles and frolic in the mud, all while acquiring the essential skills needed for their eventual reintroduction into the wild. Cap off the day with a night game drive in search of nocturnal species.

Immerse yourself in the culture of the Samburu people. During the dry season visit the unique singing wells to observe the warriors as they chant and collect water for their cattle. Co-existing with the wildlife, this semi-nomadic pastoralist tribe is an intrinsic part of this remote wilderness.

Arrive in the Maasai Mara and transfer to Cottar’s 1920s Camp, set within a private conservancy bordering the reserve. Settle into your classic safari tent and enjoy time at leisure overlooking the sweeping plains. In the afternoon, head out on your first game drive in the private conservancy, returning for sundowners and dinner around the fire.

Each day in the Mara will be dramatically different as you take game drives with your expert rangers. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, large numbers of elephants and other plains game, countless birds and smaller animals frequent the Mara’s tree-flecked grasslands.

Enjoy another full day in the Mara ecosystem, with morning and afternoon game drives across both the private conservancy and, if desired, the main reserve. Optional activities include a visit to a Maasai village or a spa treatment back at camp. Between excursions, relax at camp or by the pool, taking in the views of the surrounding wilderness. Dinner is served in a private or open-air setting.

Enjoy your final morning on safari before returning to Nairobi. Spend the afternoon shopping and having lunch. A day room is available until your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
