Day 1 - Country Dairy and Traverse City
Embark today on a getaway to Traverse City for three days of touring highlighted by reserved seats to the International Fireworks Championship. First, make a stop at Country Dairy, a four-generation family-owned farm for a tour of the property and lunch on own. Later, continue on to Traverse City. Meal: D
Day 2 - Charlevoix Mushroom Houses and Castle Farms
This morning, travel to Charlevoix for a tour of the famous Mushroom Houses. A local guide joins in to learn about these unique homes designed by Earl Young. The over 26 homes are constructed from the stones and boulders that line the shores of Northern Michigan. Then, step back in time at Castle Farms, one of Michigan’s premier historical attractions. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the home and then explore the beautiful gardens, learn over a century of history and see the state’s largest outdoor model railroad. Then, you will stop at Friske Farm Market for a wagon ride through the orchard followed by some hot coffee and fresh, homemade cobbler. Meals: B, L
Day 3 - Sleeping Bear Dunes and International Fireworks Championship
Begin the day exploring at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Named for an Indian legend, these expansive golden dunes stretch for more than 35 miles along the twinkling blue waters of Lake Michigan. A local guide tells the history and lore of the area including the peninsula and lighthouse. Then take to the water on Grand Traverse Bay. Enjoy a narrated cruise along the shores of Traverse City, Old Mission Peninsula and Power Island. Learn about the culture and history of the area while taking in the beauty of the bay. Tonight, travel to Turtle Creek Stadium for the main event, the International Fireworks Championship. Competitive teams from around the world gather for a one-of-a-kind fireworks competition. Marvel at intricate choreography, synchronized to music and appreciate the breathtaking designs painted across the night sky. Meals: B, L
Day 4 - Cotton Creek Farms and Holland
Begin the day at Cotton Creek Farms for a walking tour to see the alpacas raised there. Spend time feeding the animals and shop in their unique gift shop. Then, make a stop at Holland for a visit to Windmill Island Gardens, the miniature Netherlands Village, candle-making shop and antique carousel with hand carved and painted wooden horses.
