Day 1 - Depart the USA
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Madrid, capital of Spain.

Day 2 - Madrid, Spain
Upon arrival in Madrid, you’ll be met by a representative of Mayflower Cruises and Tours and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is begin exploring this modern, metropolitan city. Your Tour Manager will be available to offer suggestions and assist with your sightseeing plans.

Day 3 - Madrid
The day begins with a panoramic tour featuring the city’s main streets and monuments. Drive along the Gran Via, a bustling thoroughfare filled with shops and cafés. Plaza Mayor, the heart of the city, is home to a bronze statue of King Philip III. Plaza de la Villa, full of historical and artistic value, is one of Madrid’s best-preserved monuments. Learn the history of the Cibeles and Neptune Fountains, and visit the Royal Palace, considered to be one of the finest palaces in all of Europe. Before returning to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure, walk through the Parque del Retiro, one of the most famous and beautiful parks of the city. Early evening, indulge in local culture as you partake in a Flamenco dance class! After dinner, attend an included Flamenco show. Watch professionals perform what you learned, and feel the heart-pounding rhythm and cultural passion displayed by the dancers as you become immersed in this life enriching experience. Meals: B, D

Day 4 - Toledo
Depart by coach and Journey to Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the oldest towns in Europe. Stroll through the Jewish quarter with its narrow streets and visit the Church of São Tomé, housing El Greco’s famous painting, ‘The Burial of Count Orgaz’. In-side the Santa María la Blanca Synagogue, see its amazing architectural details and learn the history associated with this current museum and former synagogue. The Primate Cathedral of Toledo is a magnificent example of Gothic architecture and considered to be among the greatest Gothic structures in Europe. Inside, see the spectacular high altar and two paintings by El Greco, along with other historic masterpieces. Continue to a local ‘finca’ (wine estate) to learn about wine production and sample the final product. Meal: B

Day 5 - Madrid to Valencia
Following breakfast, bid farewell to Madrid and transfer to the rail station to board a high-speed train to Valencia. Sit back and relax as you watch the scenery go by. This afternoon, become acquainted with Valencia during an orientation tour. See the Old Town with its beautiful parks and squares. Visit the exquisite Lonja de La Seda (Silk Exchange) – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and masterpiece of late Gothic architecture. In the cathedral, see what is claimed to be the Holy Grail, the actual cup that Jesus drank from at the last supper. Meals: B, D

Day 6 - Valencia
You’re in for a treat (literally!), as you learn how to make paella – a famous local dish. Visit the central market to select the ingredients and prepare fresh paella with a local chef. This hands-on class is sure to be a highlight! Enjoy the dish for lunch before relaxing during an afternoon at leisure. Meals: B, L

Day 7 - Valencia to Barcelona
Journey by high-speed train to the region of Catalonia and its capital city, Barcelona – an enchanting seaside city with boundless culture, fabled architecture, and world-class dining. Upon arrival, a panoramic orientation tour will show you the highlights of the city. See La Pedrera, an impressive building by Gaudí; Montjuic Park with spectacular views of the city and harbor, the Olympic Ring, and monument to Columbus among other sites. The remainder of the day is free to experience Barcelona’s culture and culinary delights on your own. Meal: B

Day 8 - Barcelona
Continue exploring the city as this morning’s tour focuses on the Gothic Quarter – the heart of the old city - and its historical center. From the myriad of shops, restaurants and street performers along Las Ramblas, to the Mercat de la Boqueria – one of Europe’s largest food markets – you’ll revel in the colorful, vibrant atmosphere. Enjoy an included ‘tapas tasting’ at the market to further experience the local flavor of the area. No tour would be complete without seeing Gaudí’s contributions. Marvel at his unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Família Cathedral, as you wander through the interior of this magnificent landmark. And in sheer contrast to this is the bizarre Park Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its stone structures and stunning tilework. Meal: B

Day 9 - Barcelona
The final day is yours to do as you please. Shop along Las Ramblas, enjoy a local museum, or just relax at a sidewalk café. Enjoy the day before getting together with your fellow travelers to reminisce about your life enriching experiences in Spain at the farewell dinner. Meals: B, D

Day 10 - Barcelona / USA
This morning, transfer to Barcelona’s Prat Airport for your flight home. Meal: B
