About the Port
Dynjandi is the signature landmark of the Westfjords, a broad, terraced waterfall that widens as it descends some 100 meters over seven distinct steps, earning its nickname 'the thunder' for the deep roar that fills the surrounding valley. Its bridal-veil shape and sheer scale make it one of the most photographed natural sites in Iceland, set against a backdrop of dramatic fjords, sea cliffs, and open moorland largely untouched by development.
A well-marked path leads from the parking area up toward the falls, with viewing points along the way for those who prefer a shorter walk. Travelers should dress for wind and mist, as spray often carries well beyond the base.
