About the Port
Fowey sits on the steep banks of the River Fowey in south Cornwall, its slate-roofed cottages and narrow lanes tumbling down to a working harbor that has shipped china clay, tin, and fish for centuries. The town retains an old-world charm, with independent shops, waterside pubs, and views across the estuary to the village of Polruan on the opposite bank.

Nearby coastal paths lead to dramatic cliff scenery and quiet coves, while the surrounding countryside inspired novelist Daphne du Maurier, who lived in the area for much of her life. Walk the Coastal Path to Readymoney Cove
Follow the South West Coast Path south from town to this small sandy cove backed by cliffs, passing the ruins of St Catherine's Castle along the way. The walk takes about 20-30 minutes each way and rewards with sweeping sea views.
Seek Out Daphne du Maurier's Fowey
Wander lanes and shopfronts tied to the novelist, who set much of her work in this landscape, including a small museum exhibit on her life. It's an easy add-on to a stroll through the town center.
