About the Port
Grimsey sits some forty miles off Iceland's northern coast, its cliffs marking the country's only point of contact with the Arctic Circle. Roughly one hundred residents share the island with vast colonies of seabirds, including puffins that nest along the grassy headlands each summer. A large stone sphere, designed to be relocated as the Arctic Circle's position gradually shifts, marks the boundary and draws visitors eager to stand, however briefly, within the polar circle itself.

Arrival is by small boat, and the entire island can be explored on foot within a few unhurried hours, from the harbor to the cliffside bird colonies.
