About the Port
Hammerfest sits on the island of Kvaløya far above the Arctic Circle, its wooden houses and harbor rebuilt after being destroyed during the closing months of World War II. Long a base for fishing, sealing, and Arctic hunting, the town retains a hardy, close-knit character shaped by its remote northern setting.
