About the Port
Vava'u sits at the northern end of the Tongan archipelago, a scatter of raised coral islands wrapped around one of the South Pacific's most sheltered natural harbors, the Port of Refuge. Neiafu, the small waterfront town, serves as the main gateway, with markets, churches, and modest shops within easy walking distance of the harbor. The surrounding waters are known for calm, deep anchorages that draw sailors and divers from across the region.
Beyond the harbor, limestone cliffs and hidden grottoes such as the celebrated swim-through caves reward those who venture out by small boat.
