ITINERARY

Day 1 – Arrive in Vancouver
Welcome to Canada! Upon arrival in Vancouver, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the unique beauty that only Vancouver can offer. Marvel over the contrast of the city buildings, deep blue Pacific Ocean and the mountains; explore the unique districts and historical sites or simply meander through one of the beautiful parks in the city. Day 2– Vancouver City & North Shore Tour
Today set off on a tour that offers a fascinating look at Vancouver. Points of interest include Canada Place, Robson Street, Chinatown, and historic Gastown. You will stop in Stanley Park en route to the Capilano Suspension Bridge located in the North Shore rainforest. The tour caps off with a visit to Granville Island, where you will have time to explore the shops, public market, eateries and galleries along the water. Overnight Vancouver.

Day 3 – VIA Rail to Jasper
Spend the day leisurely exploring Vancouver. Perhaps check out one of the many critically-acclaimed restaurants throughout the city for a breakfast or brunch to remember. Later this afternoon, your private transfer will take you to Vancouver’s train station, where VIA Rail’s Canadian awaits. Once you are settled in, take a look at the passing scenery from your picture window, chat with other passengers or relax in your private cabin. Overnight train.

Day 4 – Arrival in Jasper
Take your morning aboard the train to enjoy the views of the mountain terrain you’re traversing. You can do so from the comfort of your onboard accommodations or from one of the Lounge or Observation cars. The train is scheduled to arrive in Jasper this afternoon. Transfer to your hotel, ideally located in the heart of Jasper National Park along Lac Beauvert, and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Jasper.

Day 5 – Jasper Sightseeing
Embark on a tour of one of the most spectacular areas of Jasper National Park. Your first stop is at Maligne Canyon, where 10,000 years of erosion have created a deep gorge. You will take a short walk to marvel at the Maligne River as it thunders through the canyon in a series of waterfalls. From here continue to Medicine Lake and then to Maligne Lake for an interpretive boat cruise bound for the world-renowned Spirit Island. Overnight Jasper.

Day 6 – Jasper at Leisure
You have a full day to explore the townsite of Jasper and the surrounding National Park. Perhaps embark on an optional wildlife viewing tour, take a ride on the Jasper SkyTram, or take a guided tour to the famous Columbia Icefield and explore the Athabasca Glacier. Overnight Jasper.

Day 7 – VIA Rail to Toronto
After a leisurely breakfast on your own, transfer back to Jasper’s train station to re-board the Canadian, this time bound for Toronto. During this stretch of your journey, you will enjoy all of the perks of Prestige Class travel, such as a larger private cabin, a personal concierge, and access to the Park Car on the train. Settle into your cabin for the first of three overnights aboard this iconic train. Overnight train.

Day 8 – En Route to Toronto
Take in the beautiful, changing scenery as the train approaches Saskatoon. Quaint mountain towns combine with rural scenery to make for relaxing vistas. Spend the day chatting with other travelers aboard the train and enjoying exclusive access to first-class lounges, dining on superb meals, and delighting in impeccable service. Overnight train.

Day 9 – En Route to Toronto
Make use of the train’s amenities as you travel through Ontario. Begin your day with a scrumptious breakfast in the Dining Car, then perhaps enjoy some time in one of the lounges. Lunch and dinner will also be served onboard, and in between meals, you will be treated to included drinks and snacks. Complimentary cookies, hot tea, coffee, and fruit are available in the lounges. Day 10 – Arrival in Toronto
Leave the wide-open spaces of rural Canada behind as the train makes its way toward Toronto. Upon arrival, transfer independently to your centrally located hotel. Spend the afternoon getting acquainted with this cosmopolitan town located on beautiful Lake Ontario. Toronto is well-known for its colorful nightlife scene, so enjoy dinner and drinks, and then stay out for live music, shows, seasonal sporting events and plenty of places to spend your time once the sun goes down. Day 11 – Niagara Falls Sightseeing
This morning, depart on a full-day sightseeing excursion to Niagara Falls. Travel through the orchard laden Niagara Peninsula to Niagara Falls, one of the great wonders of the world. Highlights of today's excursion include a lunch buffet while overlooking the waterfall, plus a trip on the world-famous sightseeing boat, The Hornblower, which travels to the base of the majestic Horseshoe Falls. Also included is a trip along the beautiful River Road, which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge. Stops are made at the Floral Clock and at the historical community of Niagara-on-the-Lake before returning to Toronto. Overnight Toronto.

Day 12 - VIA Rail to Ottawa
Today you will depart Toronto for Ottawa. The 4 ½ hour journey by train gives you enough time to relax and take in the scenery as the train travels eastbound. Upon arrival in this new destination, transfer to your hotel independently, and then you will have ample time to walk around and explore the city’s landmarks. Whether it is historical sites, parks, beautiful government buildings or museums you seek, Ottawa delivers. Overnight Ottawa.

Day 13 –Ottawa Sightseeing
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Ottawa, Canada’s national capital. You will explore the Parliament Buildings, embassies, universities and museums. The Canadian Mint, the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of History, the residence of the Prime Minister and the National Arts Center are among some of the stops included in you Hop-on Hop-off pass. You will also drive through scenic gardens and parklands and along the Rideau Canal, one of Ottawa’s picturesque waterways. Overnight Ottawa.

Day 14 – VIA Rail to Montreal
Depart Ottawa today for Montreal. The trip is approximately 2 hours in length - the perfect amount of time for a quick nap, a bit of reading or a light bite to eat. Upon arrival, the day is yours to explore Montreal at leisure. Spend time in Old Montreal, visit the Bonsecours Market, the Old Port and the Montreal Science Centre. You will not want to miss underground Montreal with its fabulous shopping. Overnight Montreal.

Day 15 – Montreal Sightseeing
Embark on your Montreal sightseeing tour to more than 200 points of interest throughout the city. Highlights include Notre Dame Basilica, historic Old Montreal, the Olympic Complex, McGill University and a breathtaking view from the top of Mount Royal. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Montreal's colorful neighborhoods on your own. Overnight Montreal.

Day 16 – VIA Rail to Quebec City
The final leg of your rail journey brings you to one of the most historic cities in Canada, Quebec City. A leisurely ride on VIA Rail’s Corridor Service takes you to this final destination; upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Spend the remainder of the day getting acquainted with the city on your own. Stroll the cobblestone streets, visit the unique shops and delight in the city’s sidewalk cafes and street entertainers. Day 17 – Quebec City Sightseeing
Today embark on a sightseeing tour of Quebec City. You will see both the historic and modern sides of this enchanting city during visits to the Latin Quarter, the Plains of Abraham, the Citadel, the Fortifications, the National Assembly, Place Royale and the Basilica among many other points of interest. Day 18 – Charlevoix Whale Watching
Get ready for an amazing experience as you travel through the Charlevoix Region and onto Baie-Ste-Catherine for an exciting whale watching cruise. A naturalist guide will teach you about the beluga and finback whale environment, underwater marine life and the majestic Saguenay Fjord. Overnight Quebec City.

Day 19 – Tour Conclusion
Your time on this trans Canada adventure ends today. Upon checking out of your hotel, a private transfer will take you to the airport for your flight home.
