Take a guided tour through the "Venice of the North," Bruges, seeing its marketplace, belfry and lauded Groeninge Museum, continuing to Ypres' battlefields, memorials and the Flanders Fields Museum.
On arrival at Brussels airport you will be met by your driver and privately transferred to your hotel in Bruges. The remainder of today is at leisure.
Day 2: Bruges
Meet your guide for a walking tour of Bruges, a beautiful medieval city often called the "Venice of the North,” and see its most picturesque waterways and houses. Visit the marketplace and see the celebrated belfry and Gothic hall. Enjoy a visit to the world-renowned Groeninge Museum, containing works by the Flemish master Jan van Eyck as well as Hieronymus Bosch’s epic The Last Judgment.
Day 3: In Flanders Fields
Leave Bruges for a day’s excursion to the World War I battlefields surrounding Ypres, a town virtually wiped off the face of the earth during the Great War. Today, the reconstructed Cloth Hall houses an interactive exhibit, In Flanders Fields Museum, where you can learn of the events of 1914-1918. Visit the Menin Gate, one of the most moving war memorials, before surveying some of the remaining trenches and cemeteries in the surrounding area.
Day 4: Depart Bruges
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
