ITINERARY

Day 1 - Nairobi, Kenya
Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your luxurious hotel. Overlooking the rolling landscape and pastoral beauty of Ngong Hills, Hemingways Nairobi evokes the romance of a vintage East African safari.

Day 2 - Laikipia Plateau
Fly to Loisaba Conservancy, set on the Laikipia Plateau, an area larger than many of Kenya’s principal national parks. To the south, the grassy plains of the plateau break into valleys, cliffs and escarpments that frame stunning views up to snowy Mount Kenya. Enjoy lunch at the camp, followed by an afternoon game drive capped off with a Scenic Sundowner.

Day 3 - Laikipia Plateau
On an early morning game drive, immerse yourself in Loisaba Conservancy, a haven for more than 250 species of birds and 50 species of wildlife. In addition to elephant, buffalo and Grevy’s zebra, be on the lookout for the big cats, and even rare wild dog. After your bush breakfast, Ride Like a Local on a camel — a traditional form of transport in the region. Later, enjoy one of these Design Your Day activities. Take a Walking Safari with a Samburu Guide to view and learn about the stunning diversity of Loisaba up close. Ride by Horse, drawing gently near plains and forest animals such as zebra, giraffe and even elephant. Visit an Anti-Poaching Dog Unit to discover their daily routine and watch an anti-poaching demonstration. Return to your camp for lunch and an afternoon at leisure. Later, enjoy dinner in camp on a relaxing evening under the stars.

Day 4 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Fly to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, set in the Masai Mara’s vast plain teeming with animals, to discover the greatest concentration of species in the country. The action never seems to stop, and the chain of command begins with the Mara’s lion population, the largest in Kenya. After settling in, embark on a thrilling game drive followed by a Scenic Sundowner.

Day 5 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Over the next two exciting days at your camp, drive across the sprawling savanna in search of abundant game in one of Kenya’s most spectacular game reserves. Running along the Tanzanian border, the Mara forms an essential part of the Serengeti ecosystem. Each year, more than a million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle march north to graze on the Mara’s lush grasses as part of the Great Migration’s annual cycle. Follow the Mara River to see crocodile basking in the sun, hippo wallowing in muddy water or monkey swinging madly overhead.

Day 6 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
This morning, in place of a game drive, enjoy an optional hot air balloon ride (at an additional cost). Then, visit a school on the edge of the Masai Mara for an A&K-exclusive experience, viewing a recently installed LifeStraw Water filter that purifies drinking water for students and teachers — a project supported by Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy and funded by each departure of this journey. Then, visit a nearby Maasai village for firsthand insight into their unique way of life.

Day 7 - Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
This morning, fly south to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Covering 10,000 square miles, the Serengeti is Tanzania’s most famous national park, home to dozens of species including antelope, hyena, leopard, giraffe, lion, buffalo and cheetah. After arriving at your camp, take part in a late afternoon game drive (time permitting) before sitting down to a delicious dinner.

Day 8 - Serengeti National Park
Explore the Serengeti for two days, enjoying morning and afternoon game viewing in this vast, sun-drenched region. Rivers flow through the park, providing habitats for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles, while antelope can be seen feeding on the plains.

Day 9 - Serengeti National Park
Search for Africa’s iconic Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo) as well as the lesser-known but fascinating Little Five (ant lion, leopard tortoise, elephant shrew, rhinoceros beetle and buffalo weaver), which may be hiding behind a stone or resting on an acacia branch. Return to your lodge under a golden sunset.

Day 10 - Arusha
Bid farewell to the Serengeti today and fly to Arusha. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, where a comfortable dayroom awaits. Enjoy the amenities of your cozy lodge, which shares the grounds of a working coffee farm. Savor an A&K-exclusive Chef’s Table experience, sitting down to a Swahili-inspired lunch on the beautiful shores of Lake Duluti. This evening, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departing flight.
