ITINERARY

Arrive in Seville, where you are met by your Abercrombie & Kent Guardian Angel and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel.

Discover the historic and cultural riches of Seville during a half-day walking tour. See the breathtaking 15th-century cathedral and La Giralda, an iconic Moorish tower, erected as a minaret in the 12th century. Visit the Alcazar, a magnificent, 14th-century Mudejar palace, one of the oldest still-in-use royal residences in Europe. Then, stroll through the Barrio de Santa Cruz, a maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses, small squares and flower-filled patios. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Later, transfer by private vehicle to an authentic flamenco performance. Return to your hotel by private vehicle.

Venture south to Jerez de la Frontera, known as the birthplace of sherry and home to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. Explore the Casco Antiguo (old town), which dates back to Moorish times. Later, experience a dressage and jumping performance by skilled riders (subject to availability). Finish the day at a sherry bodega for a tour and a tasting of this renowned fortified wine. Return to your hotel in Seville.

Transfer to historic Córdoba, where you see the flower-filled streets of the Jewish Quarter and the extraordinary La Mezquita, the former Great Mosque of the city. After lunch at leisure, board an AVE train and proceed to Madrid. Upon arrival, meet your A&K representative and transfer by private vehicle to your hotel. Spend the balance of the day at leisure. The following day, set out on a tour of Madrid, where you see the ornate Royal Palace. Also, explore the Prado Museum, viewing works from Goya, Velazquez and El Greco.

Drive to the fortified city of Toledo, another of Spain's UNESCO World Heritage sites, which dates back to Roman times and later became the capital of Visigothic Spain. Here, Christians, Jews and Muslims have coexisted for several centuries. Today's full day of sightseeing includes visits to the architecturally interesting cathedral; the Church of Santo Tomé, housing El Greco's famous Burial of Count Orgaz; and the 12th-century Santa Maria la Blanca synagogue.

Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore Madrid. In the afternoon, meet your A&K representative and transfer by private vehicle to the rail station, where you board your AVE train and continue to Barcelona. Upon arrival, meet your A&K representative and transfer by private vehicle to your hotel, where the balance of the day is at leisure. On your first full day in Barcelona, discover masterpieces from Catalonia's most famous architect, Gaudí, with insight from your expert guide. See the Art Nouveau Casa Mila (La Pedrera) — now a cultural center and art exhibition space — and the visually arresting, yet unfinished, Sagrada Familia Basilica, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. End your guided sightseeing at the iconic Parc Guell. See the gatehouse where Gaudí lived, now a museum in his honor. Following an afternoon at leisure, join your guide for an evening stroll and informal tapas tasting, pausing to sample bites at locally beloved tapas bars.

Travel to the Penedes wine region, known for its sparkling cava and outstanding table wines. Visit the prestigious Jean Leon winery, founded by a local émigré. Proceed to Torres winery, where you explore the vineyards by small train. Enjoy lunch at leisure in the 19th-century resort town of Sitges, perched beside the sea. Afterward, you may choose to explore the cliffside old town or visit the Cau Ferrat Museum, which features late 19th-century Catalan paintings.

Meet your driver and A&K representative and transfer by private vehicle to the Barcelona airport, where you are assisted with check-in. Board your homebound flight.
