Day 3
You have two full days to enjoy charming Chill?n,
an outdoor paradise. Go on a hike or soak in the hot springs.
The nearby mountains provide a plethora of seasonal activities,
including excellent skiing, dog sledding or snowmobiling, or the
whole family may decide to gather for a friendly game of golf. In
town, an open-air market sprawls across several city blocks and
offers a range of local foods and crafts, as well as a great place to
browse and take in the local life.
Days 4-5
For a complete change of climate, fly to Calama in the
heart of the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, with an annual
rainfall of less than three inches. At your desert lodge, a welcoming
oasis in this barren land, you can schedule a massage, swim in the
outdoor pool or go horseback riding.
Day 6
Spend two days discovering Atacama's natural
environment or the sites of pre-Columbian, colonial and
contemporary cultures. The Atacama area has the clearest sky in the
Southern hemisphere. Join a professional astronomer to look at the
constellations, or you may choose to take a sandboard class at the
largest dune in Atacama's Death Valley.
Days 7-8
Your day is at leisure to enjoy your lodge's facilities, or
continue your exploration of the Atacama.
Day 9
Return to Santiago to connect with your overnight flight
home.
