Day 1 - Depart the USA
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Lyon, France.

Day 2 - Lyon, France
Welcome to Lyon, at the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a representative of Mayflower Cruises and Tours and transferred to the Emerald Liberté. Settle into your new surroundings and enjoy dinner onboard as the ship departs for Chalon-Sur-Saône this evening. Meal: D

Day 3 - Chalon-Sur-Saône-Beaune
Enjoy a leisurely morning sailing along the Rhône River. After lunch, depart on an included excursion to the quaint village of Beaune. Visit the Hôtel-Dieu, a symbol of the city and former charitable hospital for the poor. In addition to housing many treasures – furniture, pottery, paintings, tapestries and religious masterpieces – today the Hôtel Dieu is considered a medieval jewel with its superb multicolored Burgundian roof tiles. This evening, set sail for Lyon. Meals: B, L, D

Day 4 - Lyon
UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a basilica, ancient Roman ruins, quaint alleyways with hidden corridors…all of these are discovered during a guided tour of Lyon. Departing by coach, view the ruins of two Roman theatres as you make your way up Hill Fourvière. Atop the hill is the symbol of the city, the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourvière, and a spectacular view of the city below. During the walking tour, the guide will lead you through the heart of the old town pointing out historic buildings and explaining the unique architecture and Renaissance charm of the city. Alternatively, choose a guided bike tour, or an optional excursion to the medieval walled town of Perouges. Meals: B, L, D

Day 5 - Tournon
Awaken this morning in the charming town of Tournon, nestled in a valley and dominated by the 16th-century castle and Roman ruins. Join your local guide for a walking tour of the town in this area with a long tradition in wine making. Or, choose to hike through the local vineyards. Onboard, enjoy a wine tasting presentation to learn about this famous product of the area. Meals: B, L, D

Day 6 - Viviers
Begin the day with a walking tour of Viviers, a town which still proudly displays its heritage from the Middle-Ages. On the included walking tour, see one of France’s oldest cathedrals and explore the architectural history. After lunch, join an optional excursion to the Château de Grignan, or relax onboard. Meals: B, L, D

Day 7 - Avignon
With a morning arrival in Avignon, disembark the ship and embark on a walking tour. See the Palace of the Popes, standing secure on a hill in the center of town; stroll through the cobbled alleyways, and see the famous ‘Pont d’Avignon’. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure or join an optional excursion to see the Pont du Gard aqueduct, a major feat of Roman engineering and one of the architectural masterpieces of the ancient world. This evening you’re in for a treat with a Provençal dinner onboard, hosted by a local French chef. Meals: B, L, D

Day 8 - Arles
The Provençal town of Arles combines all of the region’s charms and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While strolling through the streets, medieval in character, with the local guide, you’ll discover why the colorful houses were an inspiration to Vincent Van Gogh and other famous artists. Visit the 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheater which is still in use today. This afternoon, join an optional excursion to Les Baux- one of the most beautiful villages in France. Meals: B, L, D

Day 9 - Nice
After breakfast, it’s time to say farewell to the captain and crew as your river cruise comes to end. But your land adventure is just beginning as you journey by coach to Nice on the famed Cote d’Azur. During an orientation walk, see the old town with its cafés, historic buildings, picturesque harbor and the infamous sea-front promenade. Meals: B, D

Day 10 - Monte Carlo
After a morning at leisure, depart by coach for the principality of Monaco to visit Monte Carlo on the French Riviera. Home to the Grand Prix, location of numerous movies and playground of the rich and famous – you’re sure to recognize its beautiful setting and famed casino. After some free time to explore, return to Nice for the evening. Meal: B

Day 11 - Nice
The full day is left free of planned activities. Relax and explore Nice, or join an optional excursion to Cannes and the Grasse Perfumery. Discover Cannes on a guided tour and view the Cannes Film Festival Palace. Journey to Grasse where you’ll have an orientation tour and guided visit of the Fragonard Perfumery before returning to Nice. Meal: B

Day 12 - Nice / USA
It’s time to bid ‘au revoir’ to France and depart to the Nice airport for your flight home. Meal: B
