About the Port
Set on a wide bay in northern Chile, Coquimbo has long served as a working port for fishing fleets and mineral exports, its hillside streets lined with modest homes overlooking the harbor. The city's skyline is marked by the Cruz del Tercer Milenio, a large hilltop cross and monument offering sweeping views over the coastline and the neighboring city of La Serena.
Inland, the Elqui Valley stretches toward the Andes, its dry, luminous climate ideal for vineyards that produce Chile's signature pisco brandy and for some of the world's most powerful astronomical observatories. Coquimbo's port area lies within walking distance of the town center, making it a practical starting point for exploring both the coast and the valley beyond, where terraced vineyards and clear night skies define the region's character.
