About the Port
George Town, capital of Grand Cayman, sits on a low coral island prized for its calm turquoise shallows and famed Seven Mile Beach nearby. The town itself is compact, with a small collection of shops and waterfront restaurants near the harbor, while much of the island's appeal lies just beyond in coral reefs, sandbars, and quiet coves. As a longstanding offshore financial center, it also has a tidy, orderly downtown that reflects its prosperity.
Most ships anchor offshore and tender passengers directly into the heart of George Town, putting shops and cafes within easy walking distance of the pier. From there, the island's calmer waters and reef sites are a short trip away, making it a popular stop for snorkeling, diving, and simply relaxing on sand as fine and pale as anywhere in the region.

Stand chest-deep in a sandbar sheltered by the North Sound and hand-feed wild southern stingrays that glide right up to you. Reach it by a short boat trip (about 30-45 minutes) booked in advance, since it's offshore and not walkable from the pier.
Snorkel Seven Mile Beach
Grab a taxi or short shuttle to this powder-soft stretch just north of town for calm, clear water and easy shore snorkeling over patches of reef. Loungers and beach bars make it easy to linger between swims.
Explore George Town on Foot
Wander the tidy harborfront streets past pastel buildings, waterfront restaurants, and small shops selling rum cake and duty-free goods. It's all within a few minutes of the tender dock, ideal for a quick browse before or after time on the water.
