Hong Kong

A dazzling harbor city where glass towers, incense-filled temples, and centuries-old markets share the same skyline.

All Cruise Ports

About the Port

Hong Kong rises dramatically around one of the world's great natural harbors, its skyscrapers framed by green hillsides and dotted with historic temples and traditional neighborhoods. Victoria Peak offers sweeping views over the city and Victoria Harbour, while the Star Ferry still carries passengers between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island much as it has for generations. Nearby, the fishing village of Aberdeen retains its sampans and junks, and old quarters like Sheung Wan reveal dried seafood shops and traditional apothecaries.

Markets throughout the city, from Stanley to the busy lanes of Kowloon, invite unhurried browsing and bargaining. The pier setting places central attractions within easy reach, and the city also serves as a practical gateway for day trips to Lantau Island's Giant Buddha or across the water to historic Macau. Dim sum houses and street-food stalls round out a destination where East and West, old and new, sit naturally side by side.

Pavlus Recommendations

How our planners would spend a day in Hong Kong.

Ride the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak

The steep funicular climbs through dense greenery to the highest point on Hong Kong Island, delivering sweeping views over the skyline and harbor. Arrive early or book ahead, as queues build quickly.

Cross the Harbour by Star Ferry

The green-and-white ferries have linked Kowloon and Hong Kong Island for over a century, offering a cheap, breezy way to frame the skyline from the water in about 10 minutes each way.

Wander Aberdeen's Floating Village

Sampans still weave among fishing junks in this historic harbor, a glimpse of maritime life that predates the towers above. A short sampan ride offers an easy, memorable detour from the main sights.
