About the Port
San Diego's deep, sheltered bay has long made it a gateway to the Pacific, home to a major naval presence and a lively waterfront that blends maritime heritage with easy coastal living. The cruise terminal sits within walking distance of the Gaslamp Quarter's restored Victorian-era buildings, now filled with restaurants and shops, and near Seaport Village along the harbor. Balboa Park, with its museums, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo, lies a short ride from the pier, as does Old Town, the site of the city's earliest Spanish and Mexican settlement.
Beyond downtown, Coronado's grand wooden hotel and sweeping beaches face the open ocean, while Point Loma's Cabrillo National Monument offers sweeping views over the harbor entrance. Mild, sunny weather year-round makes the city an appealing base for exploring on foot before or after a voyage.

Explore Balboa Park
Wander gardens, Spanish Revival architecture, and museum row, then visit the San Diego Zoo if time allows. A short taxi or rideshare ride from the pier, though a full visit easily fills half a day.
Tour the USS Midway Museum
Walk the flight deck and hangar bays of a retired aircraft carrier docked steps from the terminal. Allow at least two hours; audio tours are self-paced and cover cockpits and crew quarters.
Ride the Ferry to Coronado
Cross the bay by ferry for views of the skyline and a stroll past the historic Hotel del Coronado and its wide beach. The crossing takes about 15 minutes from the Broadway Pier area.
