Your journey begins in the glorious city of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic that only until 1989 was behind the Iron Curtain. The city is home to one of Europe’s best preserved city centres, with its architecture dating to the 14th century, and despite the number being closer to 1,000 its nickname ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ remains today.    Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your luxurious hotel for a two-night stay. This evening, join your fellow travellers and Tour Director for a welcome drink.

Discover one of Europe’s most magical cities during a guided tour this morning. You will pass the Jewish Quarter and Jan Palach Square, considered one of Prague’s most striking. Cross the medieval stone arch Charles Bridge and visit the Old Town Square, where you will see the famous Astronomical Clock. Legend has it that the designer of this masterpiece was blinded on completion so he could never make another piece as beautiful.   You will have some free time to wander the city and enjoy lunch before your choice of Scenic Freechoice this afternoon.   Freechoice: Make your choice from this afternoon’s Scenic Freechoice activities: Communist Walk of Prague: Join an expert local guide for a walking tour of Prague, take in the city’s most famous sites and hidden gems and learn how everyday life was under Communism. Prague Castle tour: Explore the seat of Czech rulers at Prague Castle, a vast complex covering more than 70,000 square metres, considered the largest castle in the world. The castle has its roots in the 9th century, though there are buildings dating from every period of history spread throughout the grounds. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the Czech Republic, as well as the Old Royal palace, the former residence of Bohemian Royalty and the picturesque Golden Lane. Join your fellow guests for a traditional Czech dinner in a local restaurant in the heart of the city. 

This morning, you’ll depart for Dresden, known as Florence on the Elbe. Considered one of the greenest cities in Germany, with open-air parks, gardens and surrounding forest, as well as charming riverside promenades, the city is also famed for its music and culture and is home to Germany’s oldest Christmas Market.   Today you will enjoy an orientation tour to see the Frauenkirche Church, which was reduced to rubble after the Second World War and took 60 years to rebuild, the Castle of the Electors of Saxony, the Semper Opera House, and Zwinger Courtyard in the heart of the Old Town. Afterwards you will continue your journey through the picturesque Spreewald Forest to Germany’s capital, Berlin, where you will stay for three nights in one of the city’s most opulent hotels.

Berlin is a city of contrasts, possessing both beauty and grit, historic architecture and cutting-edge design, and a vibrant youthful vibe with a tumultuous history never far from mind. Your introduction to this fascinating city begins with a guided tour. You will see the 18th century neoclassical Brandenburg Gate, which was a symbol of division during the war but is now one of unity, and the traditional State Opera House. You will then drive along the famous ‘Unter den Linden’, a boulevard that runs from Brandenburg Gate to the City Palace and visit Checkpoint Charlie, the former border crossing between east and west Berlin. Enrich This afternoon’s Scenic Enrich: Tea time at Reichstag with Historian: Visit the Reichstag parliament building with a local historian. Enjoy coffee and cake under the impressive Glass Dome while listening to enthralling tales of the city’s history. The Reichstag was burnt down in 1933, a month after Hitler came into power. Claiming Communists were planning a violent uprising, the government issued the Reichstag Fire Decree, which abolished several constitutional protections and paved the wave for Nazi dictatorship.  

Spend the day exploring the city of Berlin and learn about its Cold War history or venture to the nearby city of Potsdam. Here, a local historian will share their insights on the town and its history, and you will see the Sanssouci Palace (Palace of Frederick the Great) and visit Cecilienhof Country House, where the Potsdam Agreement – to disarm and demilitarise Germany – was signed in 1945.

Cross the border into Poland, towards the city of Warsaw. You will stop along the way in the city of Poznan, known for its colourful narrow merchant houses that were built in the 16th century. Here you will have a tour of the Old Town and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to Warsaw. The capital of Poland was completely rebuilt after it was razed during the Second World War, which is why it’s often referred to as the Phoenix City. Whole neighbourhoods have been revitalised and today it is rich in culture and has a thriving dining scene and nightlife.

Largely destroyed during World War II, Warsaw’s historic centre has been rebuilt and has attained World Heritage-listed status. Your local guide will take you through the city’s key sites including the Jewish Ghetto, where during the war some 380,000 Jews were appallingly sealed inside. You’ll also visit the monument to the Ghetto heroes, the Palace of Culture and Science. Freechoice: Today you have two vastly different yet equally fascinating tours to choose from with this afternoon’s Scenic Freechoice: Pierogi Cooking Class: Learn to make Poland’s national dish, Pierogi – traditional dumplings that have been a favourite meal since the 13th century. Visit the Museum of the History of Polish Jews: Learn about the plight of the Jewish community during a visit to the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. This museum is a modern cultural institution showcasing the 1,000 years of Polish Jewish history throughout eight galleries exhibiting art, photographs, artefacts and virtual displays.

Travel to Krakow today, stopping enroute at Auschwitz, where you’ll visit the former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. In operation from 1940 to 1945, more than one million Jews tragically died here. Take a poignant walk through the grounds, which are made up of original camp blocks, barracks and guard towers, and see the museum which houses personal possessions of the prisoners and the SS garrison, who were the perpetrators of the crimes committed here.   This afternoon you will continue to Krakow, arriving early this evening. Poland’s former royal capital until 1596, Krakow is the only major city that wasn’t reduced to rubble in the Second World War.

Today’s sightseeing of Krakow includes a walking tour of the well-preserved historic centre, a World Heritage-listed site with 13th century merchant houses lining its sprawling market square. You will also visit the splendid 14th century Wawel Castle and Cathedral, perched on a limestone outcrop that dominates the city. The museum collection here includes Flemish tapestries, Italian Renaissance paintings, armoury, royal jewels and a coronation sword.   This afternoon you’ll visit the nearby 800-year-old Wieliczka Salt Mines, which are made up of around 245 kilometres of corridors, underground chambers and salines lakes. You’ll see statues of historic and mythical figures, sculpted by miners out of rock salt and view old mining tools and machines.   Tonight, enjoy delicious Polish cuisine at a local restaurant.

Cross the border into Slovakia enroute to the Hungarian capital, Budapest, where you will enjoy a two-night stay.  Divided by the Danube, with Buda on one side and Pest on the other, this city became united in 1873 when a newly built bridge connected the two. The city is an architectural treasure trove comprising styles from Gothic to Art Nouveau and everything in between. It is also well known for its hot springs and thermal baths and has a vibrant nightlife scene. 

This morning, explore Budapest, which is often regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. You will cross the bridge between Buda and Pest, the two districts that are separated by the Danube that make up the city. Starting on the Pest side you will see Széchenyi square and Elizabeth square before crossing the Margaret Bridge to the Buda side.   This afternoon is at leisure to explore the city at your own pace. Pack your swimsuit and make your way to one of Budapest’s famous thermal baths for a relaxing soak in the therapeutic waters. Szechenyi Baths are the largest, boasting 15 indoor baths and three vast outdoor pools. Or check out the Jewish Quarter’s famous ruin bars, which are housed in old and abandoned buildings that were left in decay after WWII.

Today join an included flight from Budapest to Reykjavik, where you will enjoy an overnight stay in one the cities finest hotels before embarking Scenic Eclipse.

The village of Patreksfjörður only has around 650 people but it is still the biggest town in the southern Westfjords. Watch local fishermen bring in the day’s catch in a town that was once a pioneering force in Icelands fishing industry before exploring local shops and coffee houses.  Delight as you watch the fjord views change as we set sail.    Weather permitting, we will visit the jewel of the Westfjords, the Dynjandi waterfall, led by expert guides with an on shore excursion or simply stay on board and view these beautiful falls from the luxury comfort of the observation deck as Scenic Eclipse manoeuvres close by. The second largest island in Ísafjörður Bay, Vigur Island has only one family living on the island year-round. Learn how farmers live off the land and collect eiderdown and eggs for their primary income. Visit Iceland’s only surviving windmill, which is owned by the National Museum of Iceland. See puffins, black guillemot and eider birds nesting on the island and send a post card from the smallest post office in Europe. As we sail out in the afternoon enjoy a drink before dinner in one of your Discovery Yacht’s nine all-inclusive bars. On the southwestern shore of Skagafjörður Fjord, the town of Sauðárkrókur was officially settled in 1871, but its history dates back to the ancient Grettis Saga. Discover some of Sauðárkrókur’s Nordic myths and legends in its well-preserved old town where you will find museums and interactive exhibitions along with local artisans and restaurants. On board unwind after a day of exploring on your Discovery Yacht by indulging in a massage, body treatment or facial in the Senses Spa. Iceland’s ‘capital of the North’ is the second largest settlement outside of Reykjavik but with only around 20,000 residents it still feels like a friendly town. Akureyri is a photogenic spot with colourful homes set on green hills at the base of a volcanic mountain chain. See the striking Akureyri Church, and stroll through one of the world’s most northerly botanic gardens. Go kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding in one of the longest fjords in Iceland or explore the fjords stunning landscpae from above in one of our two helicopters^. Today you can walk across the official Arctic Circle on Grimsey Island, about 40km off the north coast of Iceland. This small island only has around 100 people living in a village by the harbour and is a highlight for bird watchers with around a million seabirds nesting in the island’s cliffs. Use the Swarovski telescopes on the Observation Lounge to take a closer look at the puffins, razorbills, black guillemot and other cliff nesting birds. Celebrate crossing the Arctic Circle with expertly made cocktails at the Sky Bar or share a champagne toast in Lumières Champagne Bar before a seven-course French fine dining experience paired with world-class wines.

Join the Captain on the bridge as we sail through the large fjord of Vopnafjörður to the village of the same name. The open bridge policy provides an unrivalled opportunity to learn about the technical abilities of your Scenic Eclipse while enjoying one of the best viewing areas on the ship. Vopnafjörður means ‘bay of weapons’ and was created by a massive glacier in the last Ice Age before it was first settled by Vikings in the late 9th century. In 1973, Heimaey’s volcano Eldfell, meaning “Hill of Fire”, erupted for 157 days, leading to the temporary evacuation of the island. The island’s history is best explored on an excursion led by local experts. The Westman Islands are one of the best places in Iceland to see orcas and beluga whales. Look for them on a Zodiac tour or spot them through one of the Swarovski telescopes on the Observation Deck and Lounge. Then sail around the World Heritage-listed site of Surtsey, a volcanic island created by an underwater volcano in the 1960s.

Cycling tour: Take a small ferry to the outskirts of town for a biking tour. Amsterdam is known as the bicycle capital of the world, with more bikes than cars and more than 35,000 kilometres of cycle paths. You will arrive in Cologne after lunch. This is a city known for its liberal and laidback lifestyle, a unique beer culture, thriving auto industry and the jaw-dropping cathedral that dominates its skyline. Settled by the Romans, this major cultural centre for the Rhineland was built during the Middle Ages but was largely destroyed during WWII. You will arrive in Koblenz this morning. Located where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet, Koblenz is a medley of French and German cultures, and one of Germany’s oldest cities with a history spanning 2,000 years. Koblenz is surrounded by vineyards, forest and mountain ranges and is also known as the gateway to the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.   Freechoice: This morning explore the way you want with Scenic Freechoice: Guided walking tour of Koblenz: Follow your guide through one of the oldest cities in Germany. Explore the Florinsmarkt, the former political and economic centre of the city. You will transfer via minibus to Reichsburg Castle, which dates to the Middle Ages. Guided Cycling Tour of Koblenz: Ride along the Moselle and Rhine River on your guided cycling tour using Scenic’s complimentary e-bikes. Let the bike do most of the hard work while you cycle past many city attractions and cross over the Rhine River twice, while learning the historic background of Koblenz from your local guide. After lunch you will cruise along the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rhine Gorge in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. This 65-kilometre stretch of the river is dotted with some 40 hilltop castles and fortresses that span a period of 1,000 years. Sailing down this section of the river is like being transported through the pages of a fairytale.   The Rhine abounds in myths and legends; folklore that has been passed on for generations, including the story of Lorelei. This enchanting woman was betrayed by her sweetheart and spent her days bewitching men. As her punishment, she was sent to a nunnery, however on her way she jumped to her death in the river. Legend has her spirit cast spells on sailors who passed the rock, where a bronze statue sits today.   

Arrive in Mannheim early this morning. Known as a ‘chessboard city’ for its streets that were methodically laid out like a grid in the 17th century, as well as being home to some of the world’s most brilliant engineering minds, including Carl Benz, founder of Mercedes-Benz who set up his workshop in the city. Nearby, the city of Heidelberg is a truly romantic setting, with an 18th-century arch bridge that straddles the Necker River and a 16th-century ruined castle on the hillside looming above town.   Freechoice: Today there are a selection of Scenic Freechoice on offer: Orientation Tour of Heidelberg with free time: From Mannheim, you will transfer by coach to Heidelberg. Enjoy a brief walking tour of Heidelberg, including the old town, and then enjoy ample free time to explore on your own. Excursion to Bad Durkheim: From Mannheim, it’s a short drive through stunning vine-covered landscapes to Bad Durkheim. On arrival, visit Fitz Ritter, a 9th generation family-owned vineyard that offers exceptional quality wine.  You will have the opportunity to taste some during your guided tour. This afternoon your Scenic Space-Ship will cruise towards Rastatt, home to an elegant, perfectly proportioned Baroque palace, which will be the setting for tonight’s Scenic Enrich.   Enrich Private classical concert at the Baroque Palace of Rastatt: One of the most magnificent historic venues in the region, this will be an evening of grandeur unlike any other. Travel to the palace by coach, where you will receive a drink upon arrival and have time to explore the opulent palace and gardens, which was modelled on Versailles and took almost a decade to complete. The performance will take place on the second floor, and will feature accomplished musicians and a soloist. 

This morning you will wake in Rastatt. Enjoy a delicious, hearty breakfast in Crystal Dining before your excursion to Baden Baden, famous for its Roman baths. Located on the fringes of the Black Forest, this luxurious town was a favoured summer escape during the Belle Epoque period of the 1870s and is World Heritage listed as part of the Great Spa Towns of Europe. Schloss Favorite: Originally built as a hunting lodge and summer palace for Margravine Sibylla Augusta, who ruled Baden-Baden in the early 18th century when her husband Louis William, margrave of Baden-Baden, died of a war injury. The palace was only used for several weeks each year, and houses a large collection of fine porcelain. It is the oldest of the German ‘porcelain palaces’ and the only one to survive intact to this day.  This afternoon, return to your Scenic Space-Ship for lunch and take the time to relax on board. Awake in the city of Kehl, the gateway to Strasbourg. It’s the capital city of the Alsace region, where sherbet-coloured, half-timbered houses heave together on the banks of a complex network of canals. On its central island, the UNESCO-listed Grand Ile, is the Petite France district, so named for the 15th century hospital that was built here for patients suffering from syphilis, ‘the French disease’. It is also known as the Tanners’ Quarters, thanks to its medieval industries. Its meandering cobbled laneways are lined with a medley of buildings with shuttered windows and bright flowerboxes. Seventeenth century French explorer Anthony Laumet rose high in the French fur trade and in 1701 established the port of Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, which would become modern day Detroit where the American auto industry began. The Cadillac car is named in his honour.

Wake in the city of Porto, a 2,000-year-old city that lent its name to the nation of Portugal. And while it is awash in history, it has a youthful vibe. Porto is both hip yet opulent, where street art adorns ancient city walls and historical buildings are decorated with intricate colourful tiles. Active tour of Porto including cable car: Walk from the ship to board a rabelo (a traditional wooden cargo boat). Travel from Porto to Gaia (or Vila Nova de Gaia) where you’ll take a cable car ride to the Dom Luis bridge, which crosses the Douro River. Walk across the bridge towards Porto Cathedral, Sao Bento railway station, and the bustling street of Rua das Flores. Decorative blue tiles are synonymous with Portugal and this afternoon you will learn about their history while creating a masterpiece of your own during a tile painting workshop.

Your first port of call along the Douro is the quaint village of Entre-os-Rios. From here, you will set out to explore the verdant Douro Valley, with options to enjoy a hike, sample local wines, or visit a city known as the ‘cradle of Portugal’. Freechoice: Choose from one of today’s Scenic Freechoice excursions: Paiva Walkways: Explore nature at its finest on an active hike along the Paiva River. A wooden walkway snakes its way down a rocky hillside in Arouca Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark comprising a mountainscape carved by rivers, and the longest suspended pedestrian bridge in the world, at 520 metres long. This active tour requires a high degree of fitness due to a large number of stairs, uneven terrain and a walking distance of approximately 4 kilometres. Quinta da Aveleda: Transfer by coach to this 150-year-old wine producer for a tour and tasting. Explore the fairytale-like property of Quinta Aveleda, a renowned sparkling wine producer set on an impressive estate. A highlight of this tour are the enchanting gardens. Excursion to Guimarães: Fondly referred to as the birthplace of Portugal, Guimarães was the seat of the first King of Portugal and home to the impressive Ducal Palace. Visit the well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage-listed city and explore the palace, which dates to the 15th century and displays an historic collection of tapestries, furniture, ceramics, weapons and more. You will also have free time to explore the city on your own. Relax on board this afternoon as you cruise to Regua, the largest of the riverside towns and an excellent base for exploring the Douro Valley. This region is famous for producing Port wine, with rolling vineyards on the terraced hillsides and wineries dating back to the 18th century. Upon arrival this afternoon you can enjoy a visit to the excellent Douro Museum.  Learn about the history, culture and traditions of the region of the Douro Valley at Douro Museum. It’s set in a fully restored 18th century building that once housed The Company, which was responsible for the demarcation of Douro wines, as well as being a place where wines and winemaking tools were stored. After the museum visit, enjoy a drink of local port or port tonic on the terrace overlooking the magnificent Douro Valley.

This morning join you fellow guests for an excursion to the Varosa Valley, the first demarcation region of sparkling wine. Visit the charming village of Tarouca where youll explore the restored Monastery of Saint John of Tarouca. Walk the fortified bridge of Ucanha, Portugal’s first toll bridge spanning the Varosa River which was built during the 14th and 15th centuries. Freechoice: Choose one of this afternoon’s Scenic Freechoice activities: Excursion to Lamego: Take a coach to the town of Lamego, nestled among terraced vineyards that were the first to produce world-famous port wine. The city prospered in the 18th century and is a fascinating place to wander, with its many fine Baroque structures. Your tour will culminate at the stunning Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, standing gracefully overlooking the town. The front of the cathedral is lined by a zigzagged staircase decorated in traditional blue and white tiled mosaics leading down to the town centre. Mateus Palace: Transfer by coach to Mateus Palace, considered one of the best examples of Baroque civil architecture in Portugal. Built in the first half of the 18th century, the former family home features rooms with original furniture and ornately carved ceilings; a library that contains one of the first illustrated editions of Os Lusiadas, Portugal’s most significant epic poem; and a manicured garden dotted with statues, hedges, a cypress tunnel and reflective ponds. Port Wine Blending Class: Ever wanted to know how an oenologist creates their beautiful blends? Well today you will find out. Visit Quinta de Pacheca and marvel at the glorious vineyards and old cellar before taking a hands on workshop where you will learn about the blending process.

Today you’ll enjoy a relaxing day on board, as you sail towards Vega de Terron. Spend the morning soaking up the sunshine on the Sun Deck as you enjoy the Douro scenery rolling during a full day cruise through the Douro Valley’s Vinhateiro wine growing region. A World Heritage-listed Site, Vinhateiro has a history of wine production that stretches back for 2,000 years. In fact, its impeccable port wines have been world-famous since at least the 18th century.

Wake this morning in the city of Vega de Terron, located on the border of Portugal and Spain and at the confluence of the Douro and Águeda rivers. This small town remains beautifully unspoiled, with quiet streets, lush landscapes and welcoming locals. It’s a popular gateway to the university town of Salamanca, which you will have the opportunity to explore today. Freechoice: Explore your way with one of today’s Scenic Freechoice excursions: Salamanca Full Day Excursion: Known as the ‘golden city’ for its honey-coloured sandstone architecture. Salamanca is home to two cathedrals, one dating to the 12th century and the other to the 16th century, which you will see on today’s guided tour. You will also visit a market to taste local delicacies such as olives, cheese and smoked ham, and you’ll have free time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. Freixo de Espada à Cinta with silk museum: Visit the village of Freixo de Espada à Cinta. Legend has it the Dinis King of Portugal founded the town in the 14th century. The town is also the only place in Portugal where handcrafted silk is still processed entirely by hand, and on this guided tour you will visit a silk museum.

Wake in the village of Pocinho, established as the terminus of the Douro Railway in 1887, a great location to explore more of the Douro Valley. Wake this morning in Pinhão, set on one of the prettiest parts of the Douro River. This small village is surrounded by terraced vineyards and produces exceptional port wine. This morning, transfer to the charming village of Provesende, located on a plateau with spectacular views of the region’s fertile rolling landscape. Wander through the village and visit the church, discover the old bakery, learn how traditional handicraft is made, and look inside the historic manor house, Morgadio da Calçada, where you’ll enjoy a tasting of delicious bola.   Freechoice: Choose one of this afternoon’s Scenic Freechoice activities: Kayaking along the Pinhão River: Explore this beautiful region as you glide past impressive landscapes of terraced vineyards, patchworked farmland and sprawling estates via kayak on the Pinhao River, a tributary of the Douro. Your Scenic Space-Ship will arrive back in Porto this afternoon, where you’ll experience an exclusive classical concert tonight.   Enrich This evening’s Scenic Enrich: Classical concert in Sao Francisco Church: From the ship, take a short walk (with some stairs) to Sao Francisco Church, which is one of the most iconic sites in Porto. Built in the 13th century, the Gothic church has an alter decorated with intricately carved wood swathed in gold. All guests will enjoy a performance of classical music.

Wake in Porto, ready for a day of unique experiences, whether that be a ride on a traditional boat, playing a round of golf or sampling wine in one of the most famous cellars in the city. Freechoice: Explore your way with one of today’s Scenic Freechoice activities: Excursion to Aveiro with a cruise: Take a coach to Aveiro, a city resplendent in Art Nouveau architecture and famed for its canals. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city and cruise the waterways in a brightly coloured moliceiros flat-bottomed boat. Round of golf: Golfing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to tee off here in Porto, a city known for its top golf courses. Play 6 holes at the Quinta do Fojo Golf club, one of Portos most popular courses. Quinta do Fojo is a spectacular course set in a walled estate which houses gardens, lakes, woods and a historical Manor House, founded in 1714. This activity is for experienced golfers only and to participate guests must bring their Golf Handicap Certificate. Wine tasting in Vila Nova de Gaia: Travel to Vila Nova de Gaia to visit one of Porto’s most famous cellars, Cockburn’s Port. Enjoy a guided visit and a tasting.   This afternoon you will have free time in Porto to explore the city at your own leisure. Return to your Scenic Space-Ship this evening for a farewell dinner. This evening you will take an illumination cruise through Porto to see the city lit up at night, including the bridges that span the Douro.
