HISTORIC SITES, NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED LANDMARKS AND CULTURE AWAIT IN THREE OF THE COUNTRY'S MOST-VISITED CITIES: WASHINGTON D.C., NEW ORLEANS AND LOS ANGELES.

Over the course of 10 days and 9 nights, take two trains, the Crescent and the Sunset Limited, to explore the United States literally from coast to coast. The thoroughly planned journey begins in the United States' capitol city and ends in lively town of Los Angeles, California. With a 2-day stop in New Orleans and days worth of structured and free exploration in Washington D.C. and Los Angeles, guests experience the best of all three towns with convenient transportation between each. The cross-country tour includes a total of three overnights on board the Crescent and the Sunset Limited trains and two overnights in each of the three cities.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive in Washington D.C.
On the first day of this 10-day excursion, guests arrive in Washington D.C. by their own accord. The day concludes with an overnight in Washington D.C.

Day 2 - Explore Washington D.C.
Travelers have the opportunity to explore all of the best cultural and historically significant sites the capitol has to offer on the second day of this journey. The tour includes a Hop-on Hop-off trolley ride through the city, with stops including the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the White House and the U.S. Capitol Building. Once the sun sets, the Monuments by Moonlight tour gives guests a unique prospective of the same buildings, with the addition of spooky stories and little-known facts. Night 2 is also spent in Washington.

Day 3 - Further Exploration and New Orleans Transfer
For the entirety of the third day, guests are on their own to sightsee and explore. With war memorials, numerous museums, beautifully maintained parks and a host of dining options throughout the city, Washington D.C. offers something for nearly every traveler. The Crescent train departs for New Orleans at 6:30 p.m., and guests provide their own transportation to the station.

Day 4 - Arrive in New Orleans
Much of the fourth day is spent en route to New Orleans. From standard coach seating, travelers have the option to upgrade to Roomettes and Bedrooms. No matter what on-board accommodations are chosen, the scenery from Washington D.C. to New Orleans is simply breathtaking. While cruising through the South, those on board enjoy views over the landscapes of Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. The train is set to arrive at approximately 7:30 p.m. Once in New Orleans, guests transfer to the French Quarter using their own means for overnight accommodations.

Day 5 - Experience the Deep South
Culture abounds at every corner in New Orleans, and much of this day is open for sightseeing. To experience the best New Orleans has to offer, a Hop-on Hop-off Tour on a double-decker bus allows travelers to see a total of 18 landmarks and sites. Popular stops on the tour include Jackson Square and the Arts District, among others. The fifth night is also spent in New Orleans.

Days 6 & 7 - Journey from New Orleans to Los Angeles
The Sunset Limited leaves New Orleans at 9:00 a.m. on Day 6, and travelers will be on board for two nights. Again, Coach, Roomette and Bedroom options are available for the comfort of those aboard the train. Being the southern-most route offered by Amtrak, scenery of the Mexican border, deserts and mountains dominates this trip. The Sightseer Lounge Car is the best place to capture the views when not the sleeping or dining quarters.

Day 8 - Arrive in Los Angeles
Bright and early on the eighth day, vacationers arrive in Los Angeles, CA. With an approximate arrival time 5:30 a.m., the day is open for exploration and tourist activities. Popular destinations throughout the city include the Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive, the Sunset Strip and Venice Beach. This is the first of two overnights in Los Angeles.

Day 9 - More Fun in Los Angeles
The final day of scheduled activity is packed with adventure, as a trip to Universal Studios is in store. Thrill-seekers have access to numerous rides, such as Revenge of the Mummy and Jurassic Park, and other guests get enjoyment from the tours, shows and attractions throughout the park. Dining is available onsite at themed restaurants. At the end of the day, visitors return to their hotel for the final night in Los Angeles.

Day 10 - Trip Concludes
While the scheduled events are complete, travelers are welcome to stay and play in Los Angeles. Griffith Park, multiple museums and sought-after attractions such as the Getty Center are all popular options for further exploration.
