people. View the Temple Mount with El Aksa Mosque and Dome
of the Rock. Walk through the four quarters of the city (Christian,
Muslim, Jewish and Armenian) and visit the Church of the Holy
Sepulchre. Pass through the Zion Gate to Mount Zion to view the
Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, the traditional tomb of King
David and the room where the Last Supper is believed to have taken
place.
Day 2
Drive past the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, en route to the
Israel Museum. At the museum, see the Shrine of the Book, home
of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and view a fascinating model of Jerusalem
as it was during the time of the Second Temple. Continue to Yad
Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust victims. This afternoon,
head to Bethlehem to see the Church of the Nativity, which rests
over the cave where Jesus was born.
Day 3
Follow the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada, where you
continue by cable car up to the last stronghold of the Zealots. Here,
you will see King Herod’s palaces and baths. Return to Jerusalem,
stopping en route to view the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea
Scrolls were discovered.
