On Safari in the Kalahari
At the core of the vast Kalahari Desert, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the largest protected areas on the continent. Amidst its sweeping vistas of acacia savannah and scrub-covered dunes, a fascinating spectrum of plants and animals have successfully adapted to living in these harsh conditions. Impressive herds of springbok, wildebeest and gemsbok are constantly foraging for food as predators stalk their next meal. These carnivores encompass small mammals like the Cape fox and honey badger as well as hyena, cheetah and the magnificent black-maned Kalahari lion! Into the Okavango Delta
We’ll take you to the airstrip this morning for the thrilling safari transfer flight via Maun into the heart of the Okavango Delta #WHS#. This is the largest inland delta system on Earth and rightly considered to be one of the most rewarding wilderness areas in Africa. Filled with water channels, lagoons and islands, the Okavango sustains a huge diversity of flora and fauna. On arrival, you’ll be met and escorted to your choice of safari camp; both Chitabe Camp and Mombo Camp are set on riverine islands within private game concessions teeming with wildlife. Game Viewing in the Delta
The grassy floodplains and riverine forests of our private concessions draw a wide variety of plains game including giraffe, buffalo, elephant, impala, tsessebe and lechwe. In turn, all of these foraging and grazing animals attract large numbers of carnivores. The result… Morning and afternoon game drives that promise exhilarating wildlife encounters including the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros and Cape buffalo. Okavango Contrasts
Another safari transfer flight promises more cinematic views over the forests, grasslands and waterways of the Delta. With luck and sharp eyes, you might even see grazing herds below. Flying to your next luxury safari camp, you’ll be met and escorted to either Seba Camp or Jao Camp, both set on game-rich private concessions. Settle in to your spacious elevated tent and then join our guide for another exciting wildlife adventure. Tonight’s dinner is again complemented by your choice of house wines, spirits and beverages. Game Viewing by Land… and Water
With lifelong skill, your safari guide will use his Ngashi, a long wooden pole, to steer and propel your Mokoro canoe through the narrow channels of the Okavango Delta. Drifting in near complete silence puts you at one with the environment, making it all the easier to spot the animals that come to the river to quench their thirst. Tsessebe, red lechwe, impala and zebra often graze at water’s edge. Our private concessions are also famed for their birding opportunities, with hundreds of resident species like Wattled Crane, Pel’s Fishing Owl and Rosy-Throated Longclaw. Private Linyanti Preserve
Take to the skies over the Okavango Delta and fly to our ultra-private reserve bordering Chobe National Park. With its woodland habitats and ancient floodplains, the remote landscapes of the Linyanti Reserve are home to an amazing density and variety of big game including vast herds of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, reedbuck and kudu. The Linyanti expanse is also a favored hunting ground for predators including lion, leopard, spotted hyena, cheetah and African wild dog. Upon touching down at the airstrip, you’ll be met and escorted to your choice of luxury safari camp: Savuti or Kings Pool. By Land + Water at Chobe
The sheer volume of animals that roam across the greater Chobe eco-system and our private 300,000 acre reserve make this one of the best places in Africa to encounter a wide variety of herbivores and predators. That is exactly what you’ll do as you set out with our expert safari guides on game-viewing drives and expeditions on the Linyanti River or Savute Channel. In between these exciting adventures, you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or relax on the verandah as you keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife drawn to the nearby watercourses. After breakfast, we’ll take you to the airstrip for another exciting safari transfer flight to Maun where you can connect to your onward journey. Guests who are booked on our 3-day extension to Victoria Falls will fly from Linyanti to Kasane, where we include your overland transfer to the River Club or Toka Leya Camp, both set on the Zambezi River just upstream from the Falls!
