Shivers down your spine. Goosebumps on your skin. Adrenaline in your veins. Get ready for 7 days of pure adventure in (possibly) the world’s most beautiful mountains. You’ll ride the rail, hike and bike through the Swiss AND the Austrian Alps. Plus, you’ll have the chance to go paragliding & take a canyon swing over the swooping peaks, and even go white water rafting in the glacial rivers! Epic is an understatement.

FAQs
London: What does a modular trip mean? A modular trip means fellow travellers will join and leave at various locations. There’ll be some goodbyes, sure, but there’ll also be plenty of hellos with new like-minded travellers.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: How do I get to Hopfgarten? At the start of the trip, there's a transfer from Worgl Train Station to Haus Schoneck, departing at 4pm. If you're flying in, we recommend flying into Munich, Innsbruck or Salzburg and then taking a train to Worgl.From Munich Airport (Munchen Flughafen):Make your way to the Zentrum Bereich (Central Area) where you can buy a ticket at the train counter for Worgl. Take the S-Bahn (subway S8) to München Ost - approx. 15 minutes' journey time. At München Ost, change platforms & take the fast train direct to Wörgl (about 1 hour). Train schedules can be found on the Bahn website.From Innsbruck Airport (Flughafen):Take the shuttle bus to the main train station (Bahnhof). You can buy tickets from the ticket machine at the bus stop and then validate it once you're on the bus. From Innsbruck train station, take a train to Wörgl. You can book tickets online, through the app, or from the red ticket machines at the station. Train schedules can be found on the ÖBB website.From Salzburg Airport (Flughafen):Take the shuttle bus to the main train station (Bahnhof). From Salzburg train station, take the train to Wörgl. Lauterbrunnen: How do I get back from Lauterbrunnen? The trip ends in Lauterbrunnen at the accommodation - Schutzenbach Hostel. From there, you can walk to Lauterbrunnen train station (15 mins), take the 141 bus (10 mins) or take a taxi which can be organised through the hostel (5 mins).From the train station, you can take a train to Interlaken Ost (25 minutes), then take connecting trains to most other major cities. (You'll have done part of this journey on day 4 of the trip so it might feel familiar!).The biggest international airport to fly out of is Zurich. You can take a direct train from Interlaken Ost to Zurich Airport (Flughafen Zurich), which takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes - eyes peeled for beautiful views of the mountains and lakes on the way. Train schedules can be found on the SBB website.Trains and public transport services across Austria and Switzerland are reasonably priced and very efficient. Most rail staff speak some English and you can also switch the ticket machines to English. The trains are clean and comfortable, with awesome views of the mountains and countryside. Your Trip Manager can also offer more advice in the days leading up to the trip.
London: Can I share a room with my partner on this trip? Your Trip Manager will advise you on who you’ll share your room with. On this trip, you’ll stay in a multi-share room with other travellers of the same sex.
London: Can I stay for a few extra days? Our trips are short & sweet (and loaded with fun activities). That’s why we don’t offer pre or post trip accommodation.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: How strenuous are the activities on this trip? You’ll need a moderate level of fitness for this trip since you’ll be hiking, biking and rafting. The sunset hike on day 1 is about 5km and has 250m of elevation. The bike ride on Day 2 is about 25 kms long, through valleys and some steep ascents. But you can always take it at your own pace. Paragliding has a 115kg (255 lbs) weight limit, but it’s not physically strenuous. On day 3, you must be able to swim to participate in the white-water rafting, but it is beginner friendly. The hike on day 5 is mostly flat or downhill as we take a gondola to the starting point. The canyon swing on day 6 has a weight limit of 120kgs and you must be in good health to participate, but it is not physically strenuous. You must be able to carry your own luggage on public transport.
Hopfgarten im Brixental: Do I need to be able to swim to go on this trip? You'll need to able to swim if you're taking part in the white water rafting experience on day 3. Don't worry though. If you can't swim, you can still explore the alpine town of Haiming while you wait, and then join the visit to Innsbruck afterwards.
Bucharest: Can you cater to dietary requirements? Your Trip Manager will endeavour to cater for specific dietary requirements where possible. Vegetarianism, lactose intolerance, and gluten intolerance will be catered for in most instances. There are, however, some meals and activities that are fixed in advance and therefore cannot be modified to suit dietary requirements. Please use My Contiki to notify us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. For those suffering from particular food allergies, your Trip Manager will endeavour to disclose to their fullest knowledge the main ingredients in the dishes being consumed. It is, however, your personal responsibility to ensure that you do not ingest any foods to which you are allergic.
Beaujolais Wine Region: Are towels provided? We don’t provide towels on this trip. So, please remember to pack your own towel!
Hopfgarten im Brixental: What are the alps? The alps are an incredible mountain range stretching across 8 Alpine countries: Monaco, France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia. Perfect for skiing, biking or hiking!

Hopfgarten im Brixental: Jump on a bike & head out for a fully guided tour through picture-perfect Austrian mountain scenery. In a region that is all about the outdoors, this is the perfect way to take in the fresh alpine air, waterfalls, mountain streams & meadows. Once you've worked up an appetite, there's a BBQ lunch of Austrian wurst & kraut salad to finish.
Lauterbrunnen: We'll head out into the slopes for a 15 km (mostly flat or downhill) hike to Murren, passing by beautiful woodlands with epic mountain views. Oh, and don't worry, a cable car will help us conquer the steepest part of the trail! Plus, we'll check out Gimmelwald on the way and even visit Trummelbach Falls

ITINERARY

Hopfgarten im Brixental
Hello there and welcome to the Alps! We’ll pick you up at Worgl Train Station (included transfer, baby!) and once we’ve all set down our bags at Contiki Haus Schöneck, we’ll kick off the trip officially with a welcome meeting conducted by your Trip Manager. After that, we’ll tuck into an included dinner – made fresh on-site with local ingredients. After dinner, we'll head off for a gentle sunset hike to mark the start of our adventure.

Hopfgarten im Brixental
After conquering the village trails, it's time to explore Hopfgarten and beyond in a different way; this time on 2 wheels. Join us for a locally guided bike tour through the vibrant green trails, before cruising downhill for a well-earned BBQ lunch. Fancy one last adrenaline hit? You can opt for some tandem paragliding today, soaring over the alps for some peerless panoramas. The adventure has just begun!

Hopfgarten im Brixental (Including Haiming & Innsbruck)
We’ll start early this morning as we treat ourselves to more of the alps. Next stop? Haiming…Here in Haiming, you can choose to do whatever you like. But we reckon you’d wanna experience some heart-pounding action with white water rafting followed by included picnic lunch.Next up, we’ll make our way to Innsbruck, where you’ll have some free time to explore the city and grab a bite to eat.Back in Haus Schöneck, you’ll have plenty of things to dream about tonight…

Hopfgarten im Brixental to Lauterbrunnen
We’ll bid farewell to Hopfy and catch the train to our next stop. We’ll pass through Liechtenstein (AKA one of Europe's smallest countries) along the way, so keep an eye out! Welcome to lush green Lauterbrunnen! We’ll head to our hostel, enjoy a warm, home-cooked dinner then take a short walk the fairytale streets here.

Time for some hiking! After breakfast, we’ll take the cable car up the slopes and hike to Murren - a picturesque little village. Enroute back, we'll stop by to visit the jaw-dropping Trummelbach Falls & even devour a delicious packed lunch against the epic Alpine backdrop. Then, it’s back to our hostel on a bus. Mother nature sure does love Switzerland…

Lauterbrunnen
Wakey wakey, today we’re going to the Top of Europe! Yep. We’ll visit picture-perfect Jungfrau mountain. In the afternoon, you can choose to do an epic canyon swing in the mountains, or head back into town to enjoy some ground-level scenery. Afterwards, you can join us for the final dinner of this trip at a local restaurant.

Sorry to break it to you, folks! After breakfast, our magical trip will sadly come to an end. So say your goodbyes. And keep reminiscing about your days spent in this nature-kissed wonderland. Don’t worry, there are plenty more jaw-dropping panoramas left for us to explore!
