About The Port Of Nassau
Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, occupies New Providence Island and blends British colonial heritage with a storied past as a pirate stronghold. Pastel townhouses line streets near the pier, while landmarks such as the Queen's Staircase, carved by hand in the eighteenth century, and the hilltop Fort Charlotte speak to the city's long maritime history. The straw markets remain a lively spot for locally made crafts and souvenirs.
Beyond the historic core, Nassau's coastline offers powdery white-sand beaches and easy access to offshore reefs for snorkeling and diving. The old town sits within walking distance of the pier, making it simple to explore on foot before venturing farther afield. Between colonial architecture, harbor views, and turquoise water, the port delivers an easy blend of history and island leisure in a compact, walkable setting.
