ITINERARY

Reykjavik
Welcome to Reykjavík, the world’s northernmost capital city and the largest settlement in Iceland. You’ll be warmly welcomed on board Scenic Eclipse by your Captain, crew and Discovery Team before setting sail for the journey of a lifetime. With only up to 228 guests on board, you’re about to experience an immersive, engaging and intimate voyage through this fascinating part of the world. Ask the butler to bring a glass of Champagne to your suite and toast the start of your journey from your private verandah. Please book your flight to arrive into Reykjavik prior to 02:00 PM.

Heimaey, Westman Islands
The earth is always rumbling beneath Iceland. Today, you’ll see a perfect example of nature’s ability to both create and destroy. Heimaey and the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) are filled with awe-inspiring natural beauty. When the volcano Eldfell, meaning ‘Hill of Fire’, erupted in 1973, parts of the island were covered in lava and ash, sealing them in a virtual time capsule. They now form the centerpiece of the fascinating Eldheimar Museum, where you can step back in time to the day of the eruption. Walking through the town, you’ll be able to see signs of the eruption and fallout. Keep your eyes open for our black and white friends, with more Atlantic puffins nesting here than anywhere else in the world. It’s also the best place in Iceland to spot orcas and they’re a common sight in spring. Freechoice: Boat Tour of Heimaey: Explore the Westman Islands, spot puffins and caves, and enjoy a unique musical experience in Klettshellir (Cliff Cave). Volcanic Hike & Eldheimar Museum: Hike Eldfell volcano, learn its impact on the town and visit the Eldheimar Museum. Bus Tour & Eldheimar Museum: Join a guided bus tour to see island sights, including the Eldheimar Museum.

At Sea
For relaxation and wellbeing at sea, the indulgent Senses Spa awaits on Deck 6. This expansive 550m2 spa is unlike anything you’ll see at sea. Inside this luxurious retreat, you can be pampered with a range of holistic ESPA treatments# including massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. A range of alternative therapies is also on offer, like Japanese shiatsu and Indian Ayurvedic massage. There’s also a hair and beauty salon within the spa if you need a touch-up. After your treatment, soak in the Vitality Pool on the Senses Spa Pool Deck, where the water temperature is perfectly matched to the weather. Warm up in the tranquil Vitality thermal lounge, where unique heated loungers gently purify the body. You’ll also find Nordic bathing experiences, infra-red saunas, chromo-therapy pressure showers, separate steam rooms and relaxation lounges for men and women.

Kristiansund

Claiming to have one of the world’s oldest public transit systems, the small passenger ferry service Sundbåten has operated since 1876, shuttling locals and visitors between the islands. Board one of these charming small boats to hop between the islands in just a few minutes. While in Kristiansund, taste the city’s specialty: Bacalao, a traditional clipfish stew made with tomatoes. This rare wilderness offers breathtaking scenery surrounded by majestic mountains, deep fjords, seabird colonies and picturesque fishing villages. Leknes, Lofoten Islands

Today could be the day you are able to soar above in one of two on board helicopters^. The Airbus H130-T2 features wrap-around windscreens, wide windows and Bose® headphones and are some of the quietest helicopters in the sky. As a final farewell to this breathtaking part of the world, Scenic Eclipse will sail through the majestic Trollfjord this evening.
